In 1984, Frederick (“Fred”) L. Ramp opened the first private law firm in the Federated States of Micronesia (“FSM”) after serving as legislative counsel to the Congress of Micronesia and as the FSM’s first Attorney General. After practicing with various partners and as a solo practitioner for over 20 years, Fred hired Kasio “Kembo” Mida, Jr. as an associate in 2008. In 2009, Kembo became a partner and the firm became known as the “Ramp & Mida Law Firm.” Fred retired from the practice of law in 2016.

Ramp & Mida is a general practice firm but focuses on advising domestic and foreign companies doing business in the FSM, commercial litigation, maritime law, and insurance defense. Ramp & Mida attorneys devote a significant amount of time to civic and pro bono activities. The firm currently operates as a professional corporation with limited liability.
